Visiting the Osaka World Expo

Visiting the Osaka World Expo is a visual travelogue that critically captures the 2025 World Expo on Yumeshima, Japanese for “Island of Dreams,” which took place from April to October 2025. Created using WEINBENAMI's approach to embodied field research, this book combines over 300 photographs, field notes and spatial observations to document this highly curated global event. It features photography by Tokyo-based Noam Levinger alongside WEINBENAMI's own analogue images and writings.

The authors approached the site as a living set, stepping into the roles of tourists, futurists, climate witnesses and creative directors. Through this lens, the Expo is revealed as a contemporary theatre of ambition, where visions of the future expose the contradictions of the present. Published as a collector's edition, the book offers a rare, multilayered portrait of one of today's most ambitious staged events.
