This volume is the second of the three-volume edition of the proceedings of an international conference on Legacies of West Indian Slavery held at the University of Hull in July 1983 to commemorate the sesquicentenary of the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. Its focus is on the contemporary Caribbean and the omnipresent legacies of slavery that continue to mark everyday life in the region.
